I finally made to “Cha Chaan Teng” that drew my attention when I visited Little Neck(an American/Italian Fusion Restaurant) on Gyeongridan-Gil.
Cha Chaan Teng is actually a Hong Kong style cafe serving a variety of typical Hong Kong dishes and teas, but it is listed as a pho restaurant when searched on the internet.
From the entrance, it has a unique ambience, as the restaurant occupies entire building.
A cute panda stuck in the basketball net with “No Dunk” signage. It’s a refreshing humor. Graphics on the side wall are also nice.
I immediately noticed the sign written on the wall. “This is not a Chinese restaurant”. What is it then? Is it a Hong Kong restaurant? Space is small but well-arranged. The vases by the windows are the shape of trees as it was Christmas season. The lightings hanging from the ceiling with an electrical cable add vintage ambience throughout the restaurant.
Small tiles are in trend, and these tiles on the walls make them look like a mosaic picture frame.
Street signs on tree branches… Feeling of being in Lan Kwai Fong.
Neon signs were added to the wall to re-create the iconic look of Hong Kong’s nightscape.
Cute cushions with a matchbox and mahjong tile prints got my attention.
Following photos are popular dishes of this restaurant.
Beef Chow Fun with Bok choy and Char Siu BBQ pork with rice.
Rice with Char Siu, which is a 2-day aged pork barbequed with special sauce. Char Siu rice comes with sliced fried garlic and boiled egg that enhance the visual of the dish.
Beef Chow Fun; beef, bok choy and bean sprouts are stir fried in high heat then mixed with flat rice noodles.
